Review a Portfolio Submission

If you are required, the provost will have added you to a Blackboard Organization named for the review you are involved in. You will find this in Blackboard, on either the My Eastern tab or the Community Tab, provided you still have the default My Organizations Module there. If you have removed those modules, you can either add them again, or use the Organization Search tool or the Browse the Organization Catalog tool found on the Community tab.

  • After locating the organization, click on it to access it. The interface is the same as regular Blackboard courses.
  • Click on Grade Center on the left menu.
  • Click on Needs Grading.
  • Click on the attempt you want to review.
  • Review the portfolio in the main column and any previous reviewer notes in the right column. 
  • Note that there is a retractable menu at the top left of the content.
  • If you are required to sign off or approve this portfolio, enter a 1 in the Grade column in the field labeled Attempt.
  • If you are required to upload a response, write your response in MS Word and save a PDF version of it on your computer.
  • Click the light blue bar under the Grade Attempt area.
  • Click Add Notes.
  • Click the Paperclip icon under Grading Notes - Private.
  • Click Browse My Computer and navigate to the PDF you prepared earlier and select it.
  • Click Open and then Submit to upload the file.
  • Click Submit again to attache it to the attempt and finalize it.

The Provost will have supplied you with submission deadlines. Your access to the organization will be removed after the deadline. 

Final Review

If you are the Provost or his designee, and you wish to finalize the the application follow the steps below:

  • After locating the organization, click on it to access it. The interface is the same as regular Blackboard courses.
  • Click on Grade Center on the left menu.
  • Click on Full Grade Center.
  • Find the Grade Column for the department you wish to work with, click the pull down menu that appears to the right of the column name.
  • Click on Reconcile Grades.
  • Put your mouse over the applicant's name in the first column and click the Detail View button that appears.
  • Review the applications and notes from others.
  • Enter a final grade (1 for approved, 0 for denied)
  • Click the X at the top right to exit and move on to the next applicant.
  • Repeat the procedure for each applicant, and for each department.
