How to Create an Assignment in Blackboard

The instructions below regard how to create an assignment in Blackboard. The instructions are first presented in a video format, with written instructions to follow.


1. Go the area of your course where you want to create the Assignment and select Assessment.

2. Select Assignment

3. Give your assignment a name and instructions for submission.

4. Submission Details

  • Select Assignment Type

    • If group submission is selected follow the following steps

      • In the Items to Select box, select the group or groups to receive this assignment. Select the right-pointing arrow to move the selection into the Selected Items box. To select multiple groups at once on a Windows computer, press and hold the Shift key and select each group. To select groups out of sequence, press the Ctrl key and select each group. For Macs, press the Command key instead of the Ctrl key. Use the Select All function if you want to include all groups.
      • Select the number of attempts. You can allow more than one attempt on a group assignment.

Grading Options

          If desired, you can choose to enable Anonymous Grading and/or Delegate Grading

Grade Display

  1. From the "Display grade as" dropdown box select one of the following:  Score, Letter, Text, Percentage, Complete/Incomplete

  2. Select the "Include in Grade Center grading calculations" checkbox to include the score to calculate grades

  3. Select the "Show to students in My Grades" checkbox so students can see their grade for assignment

  4. Select the "Show Statistics..." checkbox to allow students to see this information

Availability

  1. To make assignment available to students, select the "Make the Assignment Available" checkbox

  2. If desired, you can set dates and times to limit the time period that assignment will be available to students.

  3. Select the "Track Number of Views" checkbox to enable you to see how often the assignment has been viewed if desired.

  4. Click the "Submit" button
